The Regional Cholera Platforms in Africa bring together multi-sectoral partners from different organizations involved in cholera prevention, preparedness, or response in the region.

We work in more than 45 countries across the two regions of Western & Central Africa (24 countries), and Eastern & Southern Africa (21 countries)

What we do?

The Regional Cholera Platforms aim to improve cholera control and prevention across Africa through operationalization of an integrated strategy towards elimination.

Cholera Outbreaks in Central and West Africa : 2018 Regional Update - Week 10

 

Faits saillants :

R. D. Congo : Nouveaux cas dans trois provinces qui regroupe 60% des cas à la semaine 10 (Mai Ndombe, Kasai Oriental, et Nord Kivu).

Côte d’Ivoire : Un cas suspect a été rapporté à la semaine 10 dans la région de Agneby.

Libéria : Un cas suspect a été rapporté à la semaine 9. Depuis le début de l’année, 20 cas suspects ont été rapportés dont 17 testés négatifs et deux en cours d’analyse.

Nigéria : 12 cas suspects ont été rapportés à la semaine 9 dans les Etats de Bauchi, Kaduna, et Kano, dont 2 cas confirmés par analyse de laboratoire et 2 décès.


Highlights:

D. R. Congo: New cases are reported from the three provinces accounting for more than 60% of the cases at week 10 (Mai Ndombe, Kasai Oriental, and North Kivu).

Ivory Coast: One suspected case was reported at week 10 in the Agneby region.

Liberia: One suspected case was reported at week 9. Since week 1, 20 suspected cases were reported of which 17 were tested negative and 2 are still pending lab results.

Nigeria: 12 suspected cases were reported at week 9 from Bauchi, Kaduna, and Kano States. 2 of them were confirmed, 2 deaths were recorded.
