The Lake Chad Basin situation in 2016 is marked by a significant reduction compared to the same period in 2015.
Niger and Chad have not reported any cases since the beginning of 2016, despite few alerts confirmed negative by culture.
In addition, the suspected cases, reported from Extreme North, East and Littoral regions in Cameroon were all tested negative through lab culture.
Nigeria is the only one in the basin to report cases in areas at high risk of cholera, in the states located in the north as Kano, Borno, Jigawa and Kaduna.
River, Ebony, Abia and Enugu were affected and more recently, Lagos state with active and sustained transmission.
The proximity to Benin draws attention to the southern and western states. Lagos state declared his index case on sept 7th, and by Sep 24th, 11 LGAs were presently affected.
